Held in commemoration of Arab Tourism Day, a concert inspired by the Epic of Gilgamesh will be held at the Bahrain National Theatre. The Epic of Gilgamesh, the most celebrated work from Ancient Mesopotamia that flourished for more than a millennium in Babylonia and Assyria and was transmitted throughout the Middle East. Written and composed by Abed Azrié, the show is a story of a friendship which, born out of rivalry, was forged through perils and exalts in common exploits then unravels painfully in a tragic death. It touches upon a great theme: the hubris of the hero who doesn’t know when to stop in his streak of victories and ends up offending the gods.
Libretto & music by Abed Azrié.
Conductor Alain Joutard.
with NDU choir - Lebanon, L’ensemble à cordes de Paris, and Mohammed Bin Faris Band.
